Dinner at Stoneridge Inn Price Change!

Good news! Cynthia and Phyllis took a trip to Stoneridge Inn to check out and order the dinner menu and they came back with a reduction in the ticket price! The price is now $36 instead of $40. Those of you, who have already paid, will be reimbursed at the next meeting, just see Phyllis.

Thank you, ladies, for bringing your secret notion to the last meeting! By a show of hands, there were quite a few, although all did not make it into the above photo!

Corrections
There are a few corrections to the newsletter handed out on Thursday, that you may want to take note of. Those who were not at the meeting, will be receiving the corrections with the newsletter in the mail.

First
Barb's Stitch 'n Bitch at her cottage is on Saturday, April 28 (not the 23rd). If you are interested in going, please RSVP Barb Attard by email or phone.
Second, some of the new guild email addresses were printed incorrectly in the newsletter (my fault, not Christine's). They are correct on the web page, though. The correct addresses are:

vice-president: lfqg_vp@yahoo.com
newsletter: lfqg_newsletter@yahoo.ca
outreach: lfqg_outreach@yahoo.ca
historian: lfqg_historian@yahoo.ca

Christine and I would like to apologize for the above errors and if you spot anything else, please let us know.

Guest Speaker
Lisa Hill was our guest speaker on Thursday, and she did a wonderful job of showing off her "Gizmos & Gadgets". If you can't find that certain tool for a certain job, drop her an email, she probably has it! Her homebased business, Soft Impressions by Lisa, specializes in quilting tools, notions and books, and because of low overhead, she can offer her products at competive prices. She carries books from AQS, C&T, and Patchwork Place. Her contact info is:

This just in!....
For those of you who attended the Robyn Pandolph workshop, you might remember that she recommended Guterman Silk thread over other brands, as her preference, for applique. We then had a discussion of how hard it was to find in London. The Marsh Store has announced they will try and get some in. You can email them with orders and colour preferences at themarshstore@execulink.com. You can view the variety of colours here.

Also, for the Russian Quilt Exhibit in October 2007, sponsored by Cotton-by-Post, the workshops and lectures are now posted on their website and you can reserve your spot now. Garnet will be at next month's meeting to give us more details about the workshops and bring us some samples to look at. All the workshops can be viewed here and the rest of the daily events can be found here.

They emailed us this information:
The Advance tickets for the quilt show and slide show/lecture are $15.00 which is a savings of $7.00. The advance tickets for the fashion show are $10.00, $11.00 at the door. The advance tickets for the Russian Gala are $20.00 which is a savings of $5.00 per person. All the events have limited seating (except the quilt show) so reserve your tickets soon.

April's Guild Meeting

Next Meeting:
Thursday, April 12 at 7:15PM at St George's Presbyterian Church, 1475 Dundas St. E.

Web Page and Launch: Our new web page is up and running! Please check out this link: www.geocities.com/lfqguild. There is still room for tweaking, so your comments and suggestions are welcome. We would like to thank Cynthia M-R's son, Nick for all his hard work putting it up!

Door Prizes: Remember, you can receive a ticket for the door prizes if you remember to wear your name tag, and your chalelaine, and bring your own mug, 1 ticket for each item brought. This month we are introducing a 4th ticket opportunity! Inspired by the upcoming 'Gizmos and Gadgets' talk, we will ask you to bring a Secret Notion, that will only be revealed on the blog the week before the next meeting. This is of course to encourage the members to check out the blog on a regular basis.

This week's Secret Notion: a thimble. Go ahead, find a thimble and tuck it into the pocket of your chatelaine now, so you don't forget to bring it to the next meeting!

Guest speaker: Lisa Hill, who has a home based business out of Tilbury, Soft Impressions by Lisa, specializing in Quilting books, notions, and supplies, will be giving a talk on "Gadgets and Gizmos". Bring some extra money, as she will have some of her products and books for sale. She can be reached at softimpressions@hotmail.com.

Bus trip to the Waterloo Quilt Festival: There has been a cancellation, so there is a spot available for the Saturday, May 26th day long bus trip. Also, final payments are due at this meeting for the trip.

Stitch 'n Bitch: Barb has generously offered up her cottage in Grand Bend on Saturday, April 28, 10-4PM. This is a great day to work on UFO's, but unlike the Quilt 'til you Wilt day, this is not catered but is a pot luck. So all those participating shall have to provide a food or meal donation. Details and a sign up sheet shall be provided at the meeting.

2007 Quilted Placemats Challenge: This year's quilt challenge is to make placemats that will be donated to Meals on Wheels, who will then distribute them to their clients with a meal. Your placemat is due for the May meeting, our AGM, where they will be displayed for all to see.

Year End Banquet: Thursday, June 14th, at the Stoneridge Inn, price is $40.00. Our guest speaker will be Joan Reive, a quiltmaker and artist from Belleville, Ontario. She has produced a large body of work in both paint and fabric in a variety of styles and has won numerous awards. Tickets will be on sale at the next meeting.
